La mobilità a Freigericht in Germania per il progetto Erasmus+ Fostering Global Citizenship

Entusiasta di conoscere una nuova realtà, ho intrapreso un percorso ricco di emozioni contrastanti, tra gioia e timore di non essere all’altezza di questa avventura. Stanca, ma felice, una calorosa famiglia mi ha accolto nella sua casa e compagne/i e docenti della Kopernikusschule di Freigericht mi hanno introdotta nella loro realtà scolastica. Curiosa di scoprire nuove tradizioni, culture e abitudini, mi sono coinvolta in dibattiti su temi attuali, “critical issues” anche molto delicati. 

Un tema centrale di discussione sono state le differenze di genere, che influiscono in infiniti aspetti della vita di relazione e professionale, lavorativa di uomini e donne. 

Visitando il museo dei giocattoli ad Hanau, ciascuno ha avuto modo di elaborare un personale pensiero: noi, delegazione italiana del Liceo De Giorgi, nel confronto con gli studenti spagnoli, tedeschi e olandesi, siamo giunti alla conclusione che per diminuire la disparità di genere bisognerebbe: 

  • promuovere la parità tra uomo e donna e una maggiore partecipazione delle donne nei processi decisionali;
  • colmare il divario di genere nel mercato del lavoro;
  • raggiungere la parità nella partecipazione nei diversi settori culturali ed economici.

In attività di gruppo, di team building, abbiamo esplorato alcuni dei monumenti più importanti dell’area, come Wallonia-Dutch Church. Fu costruita all’inizio del XVII secolo come doppia chiesa per le comunità protestanti che si erano stabilite ad Hanau ed è molto conosciuta per l’antico organo, un importante tesoro culturale della regione. 

Un altro tema cardine affrontato è stato quello dell’immigrazione ed integrazione. 

Quali potrebbero essere le nuove norme per cercare di migliorare il processo di integrazione degli stranieri? Cosa si intende per integrazione sociale? 

L’occupazione, l’educazione e l’inclusione sociale sono i fattori che maggiormente contribuiscono al fenomeno dell’integrazione al fine di avviare un processo di confronto e di scambio di valori tra popolazione immigrata e società ospitante che non privi gli immigrati della loro identità nel processo di integrazione. 

Nei giorni seguenti, abbiamo  avuto l’occasione di confrontarci sulla democrazia, visitando la chiesa di San Paolo situata a Francoforte. Ci siamo posti le seguenti domande: quali sono i comuni valori europei che si possono trarre dalla Storia della Chiesa? Cosa deve avere una persona per definirsi un cittadino?

L’unione si fonda esplicitamente sui principi della libertà di democrazia e sul rispetto dello stato di diritto, principi comuni a tutti gli stati membri. Come sancito, altri fondamenti importanti sono il rispetto della dignità umana, il pluralismo e la tolleranza. Ogni cittadino, deve quindi impegnarsi a valorizzare a pieno questi fondamenti. 

Trattando questi temi, ci siamo posti molte domande, intraprendere un percorso di confronto, aprirci al dibattito con altre persone e soprattutto con altre culture. 

Posso evidenziare l’importanza del progetto Erasmus+ Fostering Global Citizenship che si sta realizzando nel nostro Liceo e sono fiera di essere parte di una comunità scolastica aperta e impegnata a garantire a ciascuno/e esperienze altamente formative in contesto di scambio internazionale. 

Giorno per giorno

First day  – 18/09/2023

Today is my first day in Freigericht and now I’m ready for school. I woke up with a great view, a lot of nature and animals outside my window. 
I’m so excited and a little bit scared. For these reasons, I’m not hungry, but I can’t wait to try their typical foods. 
During breakfast, I found out that there were also exchange students from Spain, the Netherlands, and Switzerland!

A few hours later.

After the presentations, the students showed us around the school, the canteens and the laboratories. I was shocked by the size of each room because, in my school in Italy, everything is different. 
We worked in groups on the topic “gender equality” and I was able to exercise my English.
They gave us a sheet of paper with questions to answer and discuss. So, we started a long debate.
Now we are going to have lunch at the canteen and then we have free time to stay with our family!

My first day is finished. My partner, her sister and I cooked muffins for our friends. Then we stayed together and talked about us and our countries. It was really interesting but now I’m tired and I think that it is time to go to bed! 

Second day – 19/09/2023

New day, new adventures! Today we are going to visit Hanau, a little city near Freigericht.
First, we are going to the toy museum, to study gender roles in toys in international groups. 
I’m excited because, after that, we will go to explore the city!

We finished our visit to the museum, my group and I saw a part of the museum and afterwards, all the groups expressed their opinion. 
Now it’s time to have lunch. I’m so hungry!
Me, my new friends and our partners decided to eat pizza in an Italian restaurant. I’m sure that it will be so good!
At 2:00 pm we are going to visit the Wallonian-Dutch Church. We will do a treasure hunt to find out more about this church. After that, we can go home to take a long shower.

We are at home, during dinner my host family and I talked about today’s activities. They asked me what I think about gender stereotypes and I gave them my opinion: gender stereotypes create differences in many areas between the two sexes. We should open our minds and break down these ideas.

Third day – 20/09/2023

Today we woke up early to go to Frankfurt, which is important for the old part of the city. 
We are going to visit St. Paul Church and work in international groups on the German Democracy Movement in the 19th century.  
Now we are in the car to go to school, where a bus is waiting for us. 
Once we arrived in Frankfurt we visited the city and the storia center. We had the rest of the day free. 

Fourth day – 21/09/2023

We are at school to discuss problems such as gender equality, immigration and democracy. Now we are going to write norms to try to solve these problems. 
After formulating our norms, each group will present them and we will discuss whether to approve them or not. My topic is gender equality and I think that to resolve this problem we should, for example, approve the double surname or equalize salary between men and women. 
Fortunately, our norms were shared by all the other groups! 

Fifth day – 22/09/2023 

Today is our last day. At school, they organized a party for us to greet our new friends and teachers. afterwards, they will give us the certificates of participation in this project. 
I’m really sad to be leaving but at the same time, I can’t wait to return to Italy and tell everyone about this beautiful journey!
